Atypical Hotels – When Odd Equates to a Wonderful Experience!

If you have had enough of the same types of hotel in different locations, then you may like to try visiting something out of the ordinary. Instead of the standard type of typical luxury hotels, it might be nice to try a hotel which is itself a talking point. This way you can be on holiday every minute you are away and not just while you are out of your hotel and visiting the sights of your destination.

Something that everyone is talking about these days is an ice hotel. There are a few of these dotted around the world, typically in extra cold places in which it can last for a few weeks. The cold Scandinavian countries such as Norway, Finland and Sweden are becoming known for their ice hotels. They can also be found in Canada, where it can remain icy for many months of the year. Ice hotels must be remade each year. For example, the first ice hotel was one in Sweden. This can be visited in the cold months from December to April.

A different type of hotel is a capsule hotel. Guests stay in tiny capsules which literally have enough room for a bed and a shelf. This is really great if your accommodation budget is tiny. You can then splash out more on travel and entertainment. Capsule hotels are stacked and good ones can even include TVs and other amenities.

Would you really like to return to nature on holiday? How about a visit to a treetop hotel? This consists of rooms built in the treetops. A good example of this is the Ariau Towers in Brazil. The Treetops Hotel in Kenya is also a good similar destination. But remember what it is called – it is not so great if you don’t like heights!

It is also a treat to try out garden hotels. These are originally garden settings transformed into hotels. One such hotel that has gained much popularity is in West Sussex and is called The Gravetye Manor Hotel.

Other examples of great, unusual holiday hotels are underwater hotels. The first and oldest of these is the Jules Undersea Lodge in Florida. You need to be a confident swimmer to stay at a place like this. Or how about a cave hotel, like the ones that can be found in South Australia, Spain, and Turkey? These are, quite literally, hotels built within natural caves.

For a wonderful, memorable stay in an unusual talking point, a trip to one of these hotel wonders will provide you an experience of a lifetime. The novelty of the hotel itself is enough to keep you satisfied that you have chosen a really spectacular location.
