Many people prefer traveling by train to either commute to work or take a leisurely trip.  The train is fast, convenient, and is never yielded by the traffic that occurs on national roads, which is why it is a popular method of public transportation.  When a country creates their own railroad system, it tells the world they are progressing.

Besides advancing their train systems, government officials diligently ensure their passengers’ safety.  This means that trains not only have safety systems ingrained into the design, but also various signs that are shown inside of the train, on the floor, and up on the wall.  And to further their safety measures, minors are required to have a supervising adult with them at all times.

No matter what country a train system is located in, the trains’ safety announcements and reminders are generally universal.  Even though there is an abundance of signs, announcements, and railway employees at every station and on every train, quite a few travelers do not take heed to the safety measures posted.  The following are three important reminders and features no passenger should neglect.

The Yellow Line–The majority of countries use a line of color on their train station floors in order to denote where passengers should wait for incoming trains.  But numerous passengers still become injured or cause accidents because they failed to take notice of this line.

Handrails–Every train has handrails on the inside in order to prevent passengers from falling when the trains are in operation.  Because there may be unexpected stops, all passengers should utilize this safety feature.

Buzzers–There are a few train stations that sound off buzzers to make passengers aware a train is pulling into the station.  This allows people the chance to step behind the yellow line before the train arrives; however, if the station is particularly crowded, sometimes passengers in the front will be accidentally pushed across the line.

Of course, if passengers wish to avoid train disasters, they should always be alert and maintain a certain level of discipline, especially when it comes to following the countless reminders posted by the railway.
